US Profits Cycle Under the Microscope It seems hard to believe that the current US economic expansion is the fourth longest in duration since the Great Depression. Despite growth averaging â€Å"only† 2% since the 2009 Q2 trough, the performance of corporate profits was impressive, at least up until 2014 H1. The structure of the US economy has shifted with the passage of time, notably the gravitation away from manufacturing to services. This shift has, therefore, impacted the composition of corporate profits. Historically, corporate profits have grown in tandem with nominal GDP over the course of the economic cycle, but, more recently, earnings have been able to outpace economic growth due to a number of special factors, both endogenous and exogenous. Some of these tailwinds, such as falling interest expenses and unit labour costs, are now becoming obstacles for further corporate profits growth. There are three main drivers behind corporate profits expansion: 1) operational gearing, 2) labour productivity, and 3) interest expenses. Meanwhile, there is also the important issue of pricing power to be considered. The prevalence of low inflation in the US economy is seemingly indicative of limited corporate pricing power. Historically, corporations have raised selling prices to preserve profit margins due to rising cost pressures, notably labour. People who change to a vegetarian diet will lower their BMI and with less fat, in their bodies, there is better blood flow in the body because arteries are not clogged up with fat. By making the heart work less, there is more opportunity to live the life we want to live so our bodies can produce the right amount of everything we need to survive. Generally, doctors have noticed that there is a strong correlation between people who eat red meat and people who have kidney stones, gallstones, and other parathyroid disorders like osteoporosis. Meats like red meat have a lot of uric acids and a high build up of this and other factors usually create kidney stones or gallstones. The neighbour keeps resorting back to the same simple argument and point of his father’s saying, â€Å"Good fences make good neighbours. † The speaker continues to remain unconvinced and presses the neighbour’s old-fashioned stubborn claims to be overlooked despite his reluctance to be swayed. The piece remarkably is quite simplistic in the way that the vocabulary of the poem contains no real fancy words, most are short and the majority can be used in conversion in everyday life. There are no stanza breaks, obvious ending rhymes or overall rhyme scheme observed either. The repetition of whole lines is surveyed twice throughout the poem however. â€Å"Something there is that doesn’t love a wall,† is the opening line of the piece and is repeated on line thirty-six. This is a reoccurring idea that this wall should not be up standing in the first place as it is unnecessary. Frost says that there is a natural force that tears down these walls as they are unnatural. The title Mending Wall could mean anything but fixing the fence between the two blocks of land but refer instead to the broken relationship that exists between two human beings.
